Here are some frequently asked questions and answers:
Is Ohio Technical College an accredited college?
Yes, OTC is accredited by ACCSCT (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology), which is a nationally recognized accrediting agency. That means that all of our technical programs are available for federal financial aid and that OTC adheres to the strict accreditation guidelines.
What makes OTC different?
OTC is vastly different from other technical colleges in many ways. First, we are one of the largest technical colleges in size (over 800,000 square feet), but have one of the smallest enrollments (under 800 students). This means we have a lot of equipment and shop space for your hands-on training. Second, our classes are from 7:45 am to 1:45 pm, Monday through Thursday, with no afternoon shift. This allows you to stay after school and get extra help, come in on Fridays, or have the ability to work a part-time job and to visit family and friends on the evenings and weekends.
Are OTC's programs ASE/NATEF certified?
Yes, our Automotive, Diesel and Auto-Diesel programs are ASE/NATEF certified, and our Auto Body program is I-CAR certified and based on the curriculum provided by I-CAR. In addition, we encourage all of our students to become ASE and I-CAR certified and reimburse them when they pass their tests. Please see the program descriptions for more details.
Does OTC offer degree programs?
Absolutely. On top of our Diploma and certificate programs, we offer Associate of Applied Science degrees in Diesel Equipment Technology, Complete Automotive Technology, High Performance and Racing, Collision Repair and Refinishing with Custom Paint and Graphics and Auto-Diesel Technology. In addition, students can pursue a Bachelor's degree though our articulation agreement with DeVry University & Colorado State University-Pueblo.
When do classes start?
Unlike typical 4-year colleges with only two starts per year, most of our programs start at least 6-8 times throughout the year. Main start dates include January, February, April, May, July, August, September and November. Contact one of our admissions representatives for exact class start dates for the program you are interested in.
How do I pay for school?
OTC offers Title IV financial aid for those who qualify. In addition, OTC provides scholarships and participates in other grant, educational and training funding programs. OTC's Financial Aid department will put together a financial plan tailored to you.
When can I enroll in the school?
Students can enroll at any time during their senior year, however, there are several advantages to making a decision early in your senior year.
