OTC and Speedway Educational Series Partner to Provide Scholarships to Students on Race Teams
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Ohio Technical College, a premier provider of specialized technical training in a wide variety of transportation fields, has partnered with Madison International Speedway to award 12 students more than $200,000 in scholarships as part of the Speedway Educational Series.
The Speedway Educational Series gives high school students an opportunity to work with race teams at Madison International Speedway in Oregon, Wisc. This unique program allows students to work up close and personal with race teams by preparing cars for race night and learning about team work.
“Ohio Technical College is an outstanding Automotive Technology school, and we are very happy to partner with them and offer this wonderful opportunity to the students,” said Peter Raskovic, founder of the Speedway Educational Series.
Ohio Technical College’s partnership with the Madison International Speedway and the Speedway Educational Series will continue for the next five years.
“It’s very exciting to build such a strong relationship with a premier race track like Madison International Speedway, and we know it was be a great benefit not only to OTC but for high school students across the country,” said Randy Dziadowicz, Midwest regional manager, Ohio Technical College.
The college has announced a 72-week High Performance and Racing Technology program will begin in Summer 2009 to provide training for entry level positions as an automotive technician, performance technician, aftermarket parts installer, service writer, service and parts manager, service manager, specialty shop technician, repair business owner and engine builder. Students will be given a proficient understanding of: engine basics, electronic/ignition and fuel systems, forced air induction, welding, chassis and sheet metal fabrication, motorsports management, bolt-on components, carburetors and intakes.
